Pregnancy Q & A

What services are available in pregnancy care?

Dr. Renan provides you with whole-person care throughout your pregnancy and focuses on your physical, emotional, and mental well-being.

If you suspect you might be pregnant, Dr. Renan confirms your diagnosis through urine or blood testing. He also performs a pelvic exam and an ultrasound to calculate your due date.

Throughout your pregnancy, Dr. Renan schedules monthly visits until you’re at 28 weeks. After that, you visit the office twice a month until you’re at 36 weeks. From week 36 until you deliver your baby, you can expect weekly visits to monitor your health and the health of your baby.

At most appointments, Dr. Renan checks your baby’s growth and development through ultrasounds and a physical examination of your belly. He also reviews your:

  • Weight
  • Blood pressure
  • Sugar levels
  • Iron levels

As your delivery date nears, Dr. Renan may perform internal exams to check your baby’s position and size.

What can I expect during childbirth?

Dr. Renan offers a truly unique experience during your delivery. He ensures you remain calm and relaxed throughout your labor and, at your request, provides an early epidural to prevent pain. He stays by your side until you deliver your baby.

During the delivery, Dr. Renan creates a quiet, comfortable atmosphere with dimmed limes and soft voices. He takes a holistic approach to dilating your vagina and delivering the baby comfortably.

What is a high-risk pregnancy?

With every pregnancy, there are some risks for complications. In high-risk pregnancies, the potential for complications increase. High-risk pregnancies require additional care and extra monitoring.

Dr. Renan is a one-stop-shop for treating high-risk pregnancies and takes care of everything from beginning to end, including consultations with a perinatologist.

What is a miscarriage?

A miscarriage is the unanticipated loss of a pregnancy before the twentieth week. You may be at increased risk of having a miscarriage if:

  • You have medical issues with your cervix or uterus
  • You have a chronic disease
  • Your baby has genetic issues

Miscarriages often occur early in pregnancy, sometimes before you even know you’re pregnant. If a miscarriage occurs later, Dr. Renan may need to perform a dilatation and curettage to remove tissue leftover in your uterus.

In the event you have a non-viable pregnancy, Dr. Renan aborts the fetus to protect your health.

If you’d like to start receiving pregnancy care that goes above and beyond for you, schedule an appointment online or by phone today.
